The giant sequoias in Mariposa Grove: We will pick you up around 9:00am from your hotel in the San Francisco Bay Area or anywhere in Central or Yosemite National Park outlying areas and towns. You will see amazing sights along the way, such as the largest wind farm in the country, as you drive through rural roads in the Central Valley. Lunch may take place in an old gold mining town in Groveland, Jamestown, Mariposa or Oakhurst before you head to Mariposa grove or Tuolumne grove of sequoias. Mariposa is the largest grove of sequoias in Yosemite and you will hike or walk to see these largest and oldest sequoias, including the Grizzly Giant (2,700 years old tree) and also the Tunnel Tree among other ancient sequoias. When the grove is inaccessible for weather and or traffic considerations, we will escort you to a similar grove of giant sequoias. Hikers can choose among fabulous hiking trails to the giant sequoias including the Grizzly Giant loop. For more information about hiking trails and loops, please visit our Yosemite travel guide page.
After visiting the sequoias, your guide will continue your tour to the Yosemite Valley. There you will hike and/or walk to some of Yosemite's famous landmarks and natural wonders before you head to your hotel. The following day, you will enjoy a comprehensive guided walking tour of the Yosemite Valley wonders, and a side trip to the high-country to visit Glacier Point. If you don’t wish to walk or hike, our 4x4 SUV will take your where you need to go.
17:30 Check-in at your hotel in the Yosemite Valley or anywhere you may have chosen to stay in Yosemite. Our tours offer you both choices. Since we don’t work on commission you may choose our travel package that includes hotel accommodation or book your favorite hotel or resort directly. The hotel included in the package is a pleasant three-star hotel (based on availability), with all required amenities, but not as upmarket as the Majestic hotel. Please note that Yosemite hotels get booked up 6 to 12 months in advance so, the sooner you book the better!
Day 2: A thrilling adventure to the breathtaking Glacier Point, the greatest viewpoint in Yosemite.
After breakfast (meals are not included in the tour price), a new and exciting adventure will take you to the heart of the Yosemite Valley. Our tour guide will offer you a guided sightseeing tour of the Valley. You will enjoy numerous photo stops at landmarks like Tunnel View Vista Point, El Capitan, Half Dome, Cathedral Rocks, the Three Brothers, and walk to the Merced Riverbanks. Don't miss out on the Yosemite Visitor Center and museum, a showcase of natural history and geology. You may also have your tour guide take you on short hiking trails to visit places like Bridalveil Falls, Yosemite Falls, and Mirror Lake (seasonal) and/or Vernal Falls loop, that requires more time but is very rewarding.
After lunch, you will travel to the high-country and visit Glacier Point, a breathtaking vantage point and probably the best alpine viewing point in Yosemite National Park. Glacier Point towers, at an elevation of 7,214 ft, offers stunning and panoramic views of the Yosemite Valley, Half Dome and the giant staircase waterfalls (invisible from the valley). After your discovery tour to Glacier Point, your tour guide will continue along the winding road all the way up to the real high-country, the Tuolumne Meadows on the way to your hotel in Mammoth Lakes, unless you decide to stay an extra night in Yosemite. The starting point for tours may vary, but you will get to see everything we offer on this page as long as the roads are open and accessible.
In Tuolumne Meadows, you will walk, hike and stop to photograph stunning alpine lakes like Tenaya Lake, Tioga Lake, Ellery Lake and Tioga Pass that towers above 9,943 ft. These back roads offer spectacular views of picturesque meadows, rivers, waterfalls, massive granite domes and spectacular high peaks.
18:30. Arriving at your hotel in Mammoth Lakes Area or in one of Eastern Sierra Nevada small towns and check-in.
Day 3: Visit Mammoth Lakes Basin, June Lake Loop and Mono Lake and more
After breakfast, a new adventure will take you today to June Lake and Mammoth Lakes Basin. Mammoth Lakes Basin is a beautiful alpine setting home to spectacular lakes. We will also drive you to Minaret Vista situated on higher elevation (9,265 ft) to enjoy panoramic views of the Ansel Adams and John Muir Wilderness. A photo stop will also be scheduled at the Earthquake Fault where a sizable fissure was formed when the Inyo Craters erupted centuries ago. Afterwards, there is a stop at the Hot Creek geologic site offering a colorful display of geothermal activities. Then you will be taken to hidden hot springs, located in an unmapped area, for an hour or two to relax in their very healthy geothermal sulfur waters. Afterwards, you will drive by Lake Crowley on the way to Convict Lake. The lake is dominated by rugged mountain scenery with sheer cliffs reflecting its beauty.
An optional scenic gondola ride may be available to the summit of Mammoth Mountains that rewards visitors with spectacular panoramic views from 11,053 ft. You may also visit Mammoth Visitor Center of Natural History or Mammoth Ski Museum, home to one of the largest single collections of skiing art, literature and heritage in the world.
A new adventure to June Lake scenic Loop: June Lake Loop is well known for its abundant hiking trails, scenic beauty and quaint accommodation. Our next adventure is a spectacular side trip off Highway 395 to admire beautiful alpine lakes including Grant Lake, and Silver Lake, nestled between Grant Lake and June Lake at the base of Carson Peak, just below the confluence of Reversed Creek with Rush Creek. Next, you will also drive by Gull Lake and June Lake.
Mono Lake Tour: Located in California's spectacular Eastern Sierra Nevada, Mono Lake is a dramatic body of water covering over 60 square miles. Throughout its long existence (over 700,000 years), salts and minerals have washed into the Mono Lake from Eastern Sierra streams making it an oasis in the dry Great Basin for millions of migratory birds. The most striking aspect that amazes visitors is the unusual formation of its ghostly Tufas (Tufa is a variety of limestone, formed by the precipitation of carbonated minerals from ambient temperature water bodies). You will also enjoy a guided tour to the visitor center, a museum of natural history followed by a walking tour to Mono Lake. After this stop, your tour guide will drive you back to your hotel around 17:00 to 18:00.
Day 4: Visit Devils Postpile, Rainbow Falls and Bodie Ghost Town
Devils Postpile National Monument: After breakfast, you will take an exciting hike with your tour guide to marvel at the unique six-sided rock formations of Devils Postpile. The amazing and colorful columns of basalt were formed about 100,000 years ago when basalt lava erupted in the valley in the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River. The lava flowed from the vent and glaciers and flowed down the river and this motion of moving ice overrode the fractured mass of lavas, and carried away one side of the Postpile (these rocks), exposing a sheer wall of 60 ft high columns to the shape you can admiring today. Many of these fallen columns now lie fragmented on the talus slope below these standing and sculptured columns. However, a hike to the top of Postpile columns reveals not only the cross section of the posts, but also the effect of the ice - polished tops on these stunning basalt columns.
Rainbow Falls: After an easy 1.5-mile hike from Devils Postpile through the picturesque Red's Meadows, you will be rewarded by the view of a stunning waterfall. About two miles downstream from Devils Postpile where San Joaquin River tumbles over an abrupt 101-foot drop. This sends spectacular rainbows of color into the mist which gave the name of ‘Rainbow Falls’ to these awesome waterfalls. The roar of the falls and the refreshing mists invite hikers to stay a while to marvel at Mother Nature's wonders and enjoy an outdoor picnic lunch overlooking the falls. Please note that Devils Postpile Monument and Rainbow Falls are accessible on foot only and is seasonal.
Bodie State Historical Park and Ghost Town: After lunch, a discovery side trip will take you to Bodie, an authentic ghost town located 35 miles north of Mammoth Lakes in Mono County. Once upon a time, Bodie was the third largest city in California! In the 1870s, gold was discovered in Bodie where almost 3 quarters of a billion dollars was taken out. Gold seekers and stagecoaches would come rolling in and would roll out with gold. Bodie had a church, banks, a railroad, miner's and mechanic's unions, newspapers, sheriff's department, a small Chinatown, jail and almost 65 saloons! Visit the deserted streets of this haunted town that once had a population of nearly 10,000 people. You can also visit Bodie Museum that offers exhibits of memorabilia from the rowdy gold mining boomtown.
Day 5
On the 5th day you will get to see the world's oldest and most majestic trees. Your tour will start from Owen Valley straight up into the White Mountains to marvel at the most astonishing ancient bristlecone pines – some of the oldest trees on earth. These ancient trees' survival and longevity proved biologists and environmentalists wrong by surviving such extreme and severe weather conditions in the White Mountains that tower above 11,000 ft high.
In 1953, these ancient bristlecone pines were discovered growing up on the ridges of the White Mountains, situated in the eastern Sierra Nevada where conditions are most extreme. Despite the high elevation, poor soil, harsh landscape, 100 miles strong wind blowing from all directions, ice crystals, heavy snowstorms and precipitations, these mysterious trees managed to survive where nothing else can survive! These old trees live for more than 45 centuries and only grow for about 45 days in a year.
As we head back to the valley floor, there will be many photo opportunities and time to marvel at the unique geology of the Sierra Crest, Palisades and massive granite walls including Mount Whitney, the highest summit in the United States.
Alabama Hills:Once back in Owen Valley, the deepest valley in the country, your tour guide will drive you to some laid-back western towns including Bishop and Lone Pine. Afterwards, the next adventure will take you to Alabama Hills; the mecca of over 400 motion pictures. Alabama Hills is a living museum of legendary movies and classic heroes. Situated at the foothills of Mount Whitney, Alabama Hills dramatic location made it the perfect setting for over 400 motion pictures since 1920.
After your 5-day thrilling adventure in Yosemite National Park and the Eastern Sierra, your tour guide will drive you back to San Francisco via the Sierra high-country.

We waited 2 weeks to review to be sure we weren't still dreaming. So great was our time with this tour company. The tour started with a full day in San Francisco with Mary, our first driver and tour guide who is a native of the city. So, we really experienced S.F firsthand. Then our trip continued with Adam for 3 days to Monterey and Carmel, including somehow a front-row seat next to the 18th green during a PGA event a Pebble Beach without passes! He taught us how to be great actors! A dream picture op for this golf fan. Then Leo, our next guide, took us to the coast beyond Big Sur, including a tour of Hearst Castle. The trip ended with 3 plus days in Yosemite and across the Sierras wilderness. Yosemite National Park is truly magical - the longer you stay, the more you fall in love with it! This park is massive with breathtaking sceneries everywhere you look (giants sequoia, bears in the meadows, waterfall, alpine lakes and a lot of snow in the high country).
Our guides couldn't have been more knowledgeable or considerate, especially getting us to every place we gave them on a considerable agenda before we even met them on day one. We saw and did far more than we expected, and they went well beyond the scheduled hours every day. If this reads over-the-top, it's because our experience was way over-the-top. They certainly exceeded our expectations, just as they said they would, and we are so glad we traveled with Yosemite Private Tours.

We enjoyed every moment of our Yosemite and Mammoth Lakes travel package with this tour company. We have been to Yosemite before, but this time, we were more excited about our trip to Mammoth Lakes and Eastern Sierra. Our guide, Adam, took us on an unforgettable drive to Mammoth Lakes, Mono Lake, Bodie ghost town, Lone Pine, and other off-the-beaten-path places we have never even heard of. He also took us hiking to places like Devils Postpile National Monument and Rainbow Falls, with acres of stunning mountain scenery. We loved all the attention to detail and the efforts he made to accommodate our family’s changing plans. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary upgrade to the Westin Monache Resort in Mammoth Lakes. This is a very elegant resort and in the best location in Mammoth Lakes. It reminded us of our vacation to Switzerland with similar awesome landscapes. Book with Yosemite Private Tours. They are trustworthy, and you’ll be in good hands

Our Yosemite experience was amazing! Within a few minutes of meeting our guide, Leo, we knew we were in for a fantastic adventure. On our way from our San Francisco hotel to Yosemite, Leo knew where to stop at historical points, where to stop to pick up the best sandwiches, and readily answered our many questions. When we arrived at Yosemite, we knew Leo was in his element. He is very knowledgeable and shared interesting facts with us such as the history of Yosemite, the damage caused by fires and insects, as well as ongoing recovery and protection efforts. He knew the perfect places to stop for photos and hikes to see all the most beautiful venues. Leo even assisted us with our luggage. Without a doubt, Leo gets Five stars for making our 2 days in Yosemite a lifetime memory.

We chose Yosemite Private Tours off the internet and it turned out to be a truly a golden choice. We are from NY, so Yosemite was a big investment that turned out to have many dividends. Our guide, Leo, was an outstanding young man who had excellent knowledge and experience in leading groups and couples. He had terrific ability to adapt the tour according to our particular needs. Leo picked us up promptly at our hotel in Oakland and after the tour dropped us off at our hotel in San Francisco. Driving the 4 hours to and from and spending the 5 days with Leo was like spending the experience with our adult son. He made the trip truly special and went out of his way to accommodate our every need. Leo knew the history of the park--and the surrounding area--as well as the many features of the park offering options for us to choose. He also knew the best places to eat. Walking shoes are a must and if you are more adventurous call Yosemite Private Tours for more specific needs. They are most gracious and helpful.

My family and I booked a 3-day Yosemite Tour through Yosemite Private Tours. We couldn’t have had a better experience. A lot of our positive experiences were thanks to our guide, Leo. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Yosemite National Park area, and he took the time to understand what activities were important to us and what was not. We highly recommended both Yosemite Private Tours and Leo!
Tony W Dublin, Ireland,
We had the most amazing time. He was very courteous. He was also very knowledgeable and continually spoke about points of interest on our travel to and from Yosemite, as well as a very comprehensive guiding tour while in the Park itself. We felt very taken care of as he made sure all our needs were met. He was incredible when it came to taking pictures. We found this extra special. He brought us to majestic areas and continually asked for our cameras (we had 3) so we would have family pictures and memories for a lifetime. I asked if there was a waterfall we could view; Tom went out of his way to find me one. We found him to be a lovely, warm gentleman that enjoyed what he did and most of all made sure he created a beautiful day. We still are talking about it. We have traveled many places and have had many tour guides. Tom is a gem and we were very lucky!! He made our trip to Yosemite truly amazing!! All that are lucky enough to book your tour and have Tom as their guide will be guaranteed a fabulous trip!!

While visiting relatives in Silicon Valley, we decided to go on a trip to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite park. After reading through TripAdvisor’s reviews, we picked up this Yosemite Private Tour company, and it lived up to its reputation. Our tour guide was Adam, he is so much fun - very interesting, accommodating, and very knowledgeable. He knows the name of every single tree and rock we saw along the way between Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. He kept us well entertained and showed us more attractions and places than we expected to see in both Yosemite and Sierra mountains. He simply exceeded our expectations. This tour package cost us a bit more than we anticipated, but it was worth every penny we spent. What an amazing trip around Lake Tahoe after a 3-day custom adventure to Yosemite national park - a wonderful destination and highly recommended.

My sons and I planned a Mother/Sons get away to San Francisco to spend some quality time together. Preferring convenient and hassle-free experiences, we explored our options of private tour companies. Lucky for us, we selected this tour company. We booked three of their private custom tours: Alcatraz and San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Yosemite National Park. Both Mary and Jon are 5/5-star guides, and you will not go wrong with either of them!

I loved having my own driver. We used them for 2 days with different amounts of time and boy am I glad we did. Driving in Yosemite mountains is not something I am familiar with, but our guide was! Knowledgeable, courteous, and on time. Loved not having to drive, park, or know where go and where things are. Coming 'round the mountain sure sounds like fun, but the fact is that traveling steep slopes on narrow mountain roads can be challenging at best. Mountain driving is very different from driving in flat land. In addition to changing weather, be prepared for very steep hills, windy roads, wildlife... am I so glad we had a professional driver like Adam.

We just finished a wonderful tour of Yosemite National Park with Leo. First, our guide Leo was wonderful - patient, friendly, professional, amazing hiker guide and very helpful. Use whatever adjective you want - he made the trip so enjoyable and doable for my wife and myself, since we are getting on in years. I am 80 and my wife 77. As a result, we certainly could not do the activities we once could. That said, Leo and Yosemite Private Tours were able to structure our daily activities, so we saw Yosemite National Park in an in-depth yet relaxed way. We could not have made the tour without Leo and we truly appreciate the three days spent visiting the Park.
